Boston non-profit hospital Mass General Brigham has implemented a ‘click-to-care’ model to improve outcomes for its growing cohort of virtual patients.
DexCare’s Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) enables patients to access care at their preferred time and format, either virtually or in-person, optimising health system resources.
Mass General Brigham spans the full continuum of care across a system of academic medical centres, community health centres and other member institutions.
The new model of urgent virtual care forms part of its new ‘digital front door.’
Lee H. Schwamm, MD, Vice President of Digital Patient Experience at Mass General Brigham, said:
“With DexCare’s platform, we can provide patients with a self-directed, easy-to-use digital experience that removes barriers to care.
“We’re proud to be a leader in digital transformation, and excited to advance our efforts to enhance patient access and digital experience.”
The pandemic has accelerated patient demand for digitally-enabled healthcare, with hospitals across the country taking measures to adapt to this new way of working.
DexCare will enable Mass General Brigham to expand its digital offerings, ensuring convenient access to care that is robust against barriers to in-person care such as those seen during pandemic surges.
DexCare believes that its platform will enable intelligent navigation, capacity optimisation and continuity of care across multiple specialties.
This should enable the hospital to attract new patients to the health system and improve healthcare value by decreasing use of overcrowded emergency departments and walk-in urgent care centres.
DexCare CEO, Derek Streat, said:
“Patients have come to expect a consumer-centred experience that’s as streamlined as nearly all other aspects of their lives, and meeting this demand will require health systems to prioritise digital care.
“Mass General Brigham is leading the way in digital transformation and, together with DexCare, will continue setting the standard in optimising the patient journey.”
