Game-changing innovations to be celebrated at Health Tech World Awards

On September 1 we launched the second Health Tech World Awards where where we are set to once again celebrate the best and brightest of our industry.

The awards span startups, digital health apps, professional services, leadership and beyond.

To be shortlisted for Most Improved Patient Outcomes award, nominees will have to show that their innovation or intervation has demonstrated real-life impact on the frontlines of healthcare.

Last year’s award was won by Viz.ai for its AI-powered software that automatically analyses brain computed tomography angiography (CTA) scans of patients who are suspected of having a stroke.

The Most Improved Outcomes Award is sponsored by the NIHR Surgical MedTech Co-operative.

The organisation is one of eleven Medtech and in vitro diagnostics Co-operatives (MICs) funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) to act as a centres of expertise that focus on clinical areas of high morbidity and unmet need for NHS patients.

The NIHR Surgical MedTech Co-operative supports the development of medical technologies in the fields of colorectal, vascular, hepatopancreaticobiliary (liver, gall bladder and pancreas) and neurosurgery to improve healthcare and quality of life for patients.

The Co-operative is hosted by the Leeds Teaching Hospitals, the second biggest healthcare provider in the UK, working closely with the University of Leeds, a leading UK University with strengths in biomedical research.

Programme director, Ms Vee Mapunde, said: “Successful HealthTech innovations are those that improve patient outcomes for all patients and not just a sub-set.

“Supporting this category means that we can shine a light on some of the brilliant innovations coming through, that not only showcase the application of new techniques, but highlight the value of patient outcomes as part of the development process.”

Nominations are open until January 31, with winners announced at an online ceremony in March.
