Ergéa and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS expand radiotherapy fleet

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) and Ergéa have opened UHL’s latest state-of-the-art Halcyon linear accelerator (linac).

This development aims to boost treatment capacity. ensuring patients have access to cutting-edge cancer care.

Ergéa UK has partnered with UHL since 2002.

Through the long-term partnership, Ergéa has supported UHL in delivering innovative healthcare by maintaining and upgrading Diagnostic Imaging, Cardiology and Radiotherapy equipment.

Last year an upgrade of UHL’s radiotherapy fleet was undertaken and by July 2024, all linacs at UHL – 4 truebeams – were modernised, ensuring efficient and reliable treatment delivery.

A key factor in the success of this project was the integration of new equipment across the fleet.

Both UHL and Ergéa teams worked to ensure compatibility among the linacs, which enabled consistent and reliable treatment replication between machines.

This collaboration significantly reduced treatment variation, enhancing the overall treatment environment and improving the patient experience.
