Silver Buck enhances strategic expertise with new high profile advisory board members and partnerships

Healthcare and health tech PR and communications agency, Silver Buck, has strengthened its advisory board, the Silver Buccaneers, with four new high-profile appointments from across the digital health landscape bringing a wealth of expertise spanning clinical innovation, health policy and patient advocacy.

The new members are:

  • Dr Umang Patel: Chief Clinical Medical Officer, Microsoft
  • Trishna Bharadia: Founder of The Spark Global and patient advocate
  • Malte Gerhold: former Director of Innovation and Improvement at The Health Foundation
  • Matt Hancock: former Secretary of State for Health and Social Care

Silver Buck’s advisory board brings together experts in health and NHS strategy alongside influential leaders with a track record of supporting companies to scale, and delivering cutting-edge clinical innovation.

Each Buccaneer has a proven track record in health and tech, and contributes a broad range of specialisms and expertise to the team.

This diversity is key to propelling Silver Buck and its clients forward, advancing the digital health agenda aligned to priorities of the NHS 10 Year Plan.

Dr Umang Patel, said: “I’m excited to join Silver Buck because I really enjoy seeing momentum in the health tech space.

“I’ve learnt that you’ve got to have a great idea, and there are many floating around in healthcare.

“However, building up momentum is harder than having that initial idea and that’s exactly what Silver Buck are here to help with.”

Trishna Bharadia, said: “I live with several long-term health conditions, including multiple sclerosis, and that’s what drives my work in healthcare.

“I help organisations to include the patient voice in their work and make sure they’re doing this effectively and consistently.

“I know first-hand the frustrations that are felt by patient communities when the system doesn’t work for them.

“ I want to support the creation of an ecosystem that works with patients as well as for patients and that has collaboration and partnership as its norm.

“I’m really looking forward to developing this new partnership with the brilliant team at Silver Buck and helping to shape a more patient centred future for health tech and digital health.”

The new appointments join the already well-established board and take the total count to 11, including other renowned names in the health tech sector such as Prof. Sam Shah (Clinician and Digital Health Adviser), Dominic Cushnan (Deputy Director of AI at the Department for Health and Social Care/NHS England) and Hassan Chaudhury (Digital Propositions Lead at the Medica Group).

Professor Sam Shah, added: “Silver Buck is a great organisation to work with.

“They are supporting companies with communication, with getting their messaging right, and connecting with communities, populations and decision makers. It’s super-exciting to work with the team and to help influence what could be happening next.”

Championing innovation through expanded partnerships

Looking ahead, Silver Buck is proud to continue its strategic partnership with Digital Health Rewired, reaffirming its commitment to supporting innovation in digital health through the Pitchfest competition.

Building on last year’s success, Silver Buck will once again support the competition, which showcases the brightest early-stage health tech start-ups to NHS leaders and investors.

Alongside Rewired, the Silver Buck team is also continuing valued partnerships with HETT and BMJ Future Health, alongside additional collaborations with Public Policy Projects and Convenzis – helping to amplify the voices of innovators and drive meaningful conversations across the sector.
