Harris Health Alliance acquires eRedbook to enhance digital child health across the NHS

Harris Health Alliance (HHA) has completed the acquisition of eRedbook, the UK’s most established digital parent held child health record.
This is an asset purchase from Heathersoft, bringing the eRedbook, supporting technology and customer base into the HHA portfolio.
eRedbook is a widely recognised digital platform, used to support the capture and sharing of key health and development information from birth to age five.
The service plays a vital role in connecting parents and healthcare professionals, ensuring that important child health data is accessible, up to date, and supports safer, more joined up care.
Craig Millard, managing director (EVP), Harris Health Alliance, said: “We are delighted to welcome eRedbook into Harris Health Alliance.
“It enhances what we can offer our customers and extends our support across the entire care pathway, from maternity through adolescence.
“This is a strategic step that not only brings a well-respected product into our portfolio, but also strengthens our ability to provide connected, digital first care across the UK.
“We’re excited about the opportunities this creates for our teams, our customers and the families who rely on these services every day.”
Originally developed by Sitekit in partnership with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), eRedbook became well known through its adoption in London and continued use by organisations including King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity that provides health and welfare services to British service personnel and their families.
Following Sitekit’s administration in 2023, Heathersoft was established to maintain and support the product. The acquisition by Harris Health Alliance ensures long term stability for existing users and a renewed pathway for growth.
Supporting NHS long term ambitions for digital child health
eRedbook aligns closely with the NHS Ten-Year Plan and the government’s ongoing commitment to the digitisation of health records.
As the NHS continues its shift toward digital first care, a secure, parent held digital child health record is a key enabler of safer and more connected early years pathways.
With this acquisition, HHA is positioned to support child health services from pregnancy through to infancy and beyond, complementing its established products across maternity, integration infrastructure, and NHS Spine services.
Unlocking new integration capabilities with Quicksilva
HHA will enhance eRedbook by integrating with HHA’s Quicksilva Toolbar to remove the need for clinicians to access a separate portal and manually search for records.
Today the Quicksilva toolbar offers systems integrated with it
- One click, in-context launch of patient records directly from clinical systems, without separate login
- Quick, secure entry of new information straight into the patient record via a simple toolbar dialogue,
- Support for safeguarding workflows, including clearer visibility of CP-IS-related access issues and tools
- NHS CIS2 authentication
Together, these enhancements modernise professional access, streamline workflows and provide a more natural, integrated way for clinicians to support patients.
Cathey Horsfall isproduct lead at Harris Health Alliance and former Sitekit employee.
Horsfall said: “Harris Health Alliance’s acquisition of eRedbook represents an important step in reestablishing the technology as a core part of digital child health.
“There has been sustained national demand for a modern, accessible parent held record, and it continues to reemerge in policy and parliamentary discussions as something the system recognises must be delivered.
“With renewed momentum at NHS England and a national group now focused on the future of the service, we are positioning eRedbook to be a natural and credible option when procurement begins.
“Our focus is on ensuring eRedbook can operate at scale, integrate effectively across the system and support families and professionals in a more seamless way.
“Harris Health Alliance is uniquely placed to bring the right capabilities together, and to align this work with wider digital child health priorities.
“Longer term, there is clear potential to connect this with other parts of the alliance, helping create a more coherent and supportive digital offer for families from pregnancy through childhood. This partnership gives us a strong foundation to deliver real value nationally.”
