This year’s Commonwealth Games was the largest ever held, with 72 nations participating and more than 1.3 million tickets sold. The event took place in Birmingham – a city not only known for sporting excellence but also steeped in industrial history.
The city’s heritage made it a choice location for the one-day Data Driven Healthcare event at UK House: The Commonwealth Business Hub.
The platform was created to bring business and government leaders together to discover opportunities for international partnership and innovations for sustainable growth.
Visitors from around the world enjoyed an informative and engaging programme of speeches and discussions, covering issues ranging from healthcare equality and sustainability to the Midlands’ role in driving innovation.
Erica Butler-Chothia, Head of Healthcare at the Department for International Trade, told Health Tech World:
“Data Driven Healthcare day at UK House was an opportunity to hear from leading voices on how health technologies are helping to tackle some of the world’s biggest healthcare challenges .
“The UK is a forward-thinking global hub for healthcare innovation and the event was a platform to create lasting international partnerships within the sector.
“The day harnessed the collaborative spirit of the Games, bringing care providers, clinicians, researchers, investors and exporters together in the West Midlands to forge these connections.
“We expect to see many success stories from the relationships developed at UK House.”
