X-on Health and TORTUS AI confirmed for NHS England ambient voice tech registry

Primary care digital front door supplier X-on Health, in partnership with delivery partner TORTUS, has been confirmed as one of the first self-certified suppliers on the newly launched NHS England Ambient Voice Technology (AVT) Registry.
The confirmation recognises the use of X-on Health’s Surgery Intellect incorporating ambient voice capability using TORTUS technology, supporting GP practices to reduce administrative burden and free up valuable clinical time.
Ambient voice technology enables real-time, automated clinical documentation during consultations, allowing clinicians to focus on patients rather than note-taking.
The AVT Registry has been established by NHS England to give healthcare organisations confidence in deploying ambient voice solutions that meet national standards for data protection, clinical safety, and information governance.
Being included as an early self-certified supplier positions X-on Health and TORTUS at the forefront of NHS-approved innovation in primary care support.
Julian Coe, managing director at X-on Health, said: “By working closely with TORTUS, we’ve focused on practical deployment of Surgery Intellect in real GP settings to provide approved and tested technology that genuinely reduces workload, integrates seamlessly with existing systems, and delivers immediate value to clinicians and patients alike.
“The creation of the NHS England AVT Registry is a clear signal that ambient voice technology is moving into safe, scalable adoption across the NHS and we’re proud to lead the way as a self-certified supplier.”
The partnership combines X-on Health’s established digital front door and telephony infrastructure with TORTUS’ advanced clinical documentation capabilities, enabling practices to adopt ambient voice technology without disrupting existing workflows.
As NHS England accelerates the rollout of AI-enabled solutions across primary care, inclusion on the AVT Registry reinforces X-on Health and TORTUS’ commitment to responsible innovation, interoperability, and measurable impact on frontline services.
