Taiwan’s AI-driven clinical breakthroughs take centre stage at 2026 Taiwan Smart Medical & HealthTech Expo in Geneva

The Taiwan Smart Medical & HealthTech Expo concluded yesterday at the Hotel President Wilson, showcasing how Taiwan is bridging the gap between theoretical Artificial Intelligence and real-world clinical application.
Held on the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA), the event featured a “National Team” of 21 organisations and 9 premier medical centres, positioning Taiwan as a global leader in AI-driven healthcare resilience.
Battle-Tested Clinical Utility
The expo presented rigorous evidence of AI’s life-saving potential, highlighted by AI diagnostics deployed in 300+ hospitals across 11 countries.
The Tri-Service General Hospital (TSGH) shared results from its landmark AI-ECG pragmatic RCT—published in Nature Medicine—which demonstrated a 17 per cent reduction in all-cause mortality among 16,000 patients.
Similarly, Acer Medical showcased its VeriSee suite, the first ophthalmic AI software approved by the Taiwan FDA, now implemented in over 600 medical institutions across 13 markets.
Global Footprint and Precision Solutions
Taiwan’s clinical AI impact now spans continents, with advanced digital pathology systems running live in Frankfurt and Pittsburgh.
Innovation also extends into advanced oncology imaging, featuring a 3D cancer analysis tool that boasts both FDA clearance and a prestigious Mayo Clinic collaboration.
Innovations in hardware-AI integration were led by Brain Navi Biotechnology, whose NaoTrac autonomous neurosurgical robot performs non-invasive registration in under three minutes.
In the realm of chronic care, Singular Wings Medical introduced a “Passive Sensing” AI engine that monitors metabolic health by “listening” to ECG signals, creating a “Digital Twin” for predictive risk assessment.
“Chip in with TAIWAN”
The event, themed “Chip in with TAIWAN,” leveraged Taiwan’s semiconductor leadership to advocate for global health equity.
Behind all of these innovations sits a foundational national health database covering 23M+ people over 20 years, representing one of the deepest real-world evidence ecosystems anywhere.
Combined with a National Health Insurance system covering more than 99 per cent of the population and a broader database of 70 billion medical records, Taiwan offers a unique ecosystem for validating next-generation AI.
“Taiwan is not just providing tools; we are exporting a legacy of clinical excellence,” stated the delegation leadership.
By integrating world-class tech with deep clinical expertise, Taiwan reaffirmed its role as an indispensable partner in the global pursuit of smart healthcare.
