Security analytics protecting patient data

Security analytics have been deployed to protect patient data at a West Yorkshire health and care partnership following a collaboration between The Health Informatics Service (THIS) and an American security intelligence company.

THIS has partnered with Colorado-based LogRhythm to implement its Axon software at the Bradford district and Craven Health and Care Partnership, to provide a simple platform designed for security teams to identify cyber threats easily and quickly.

It helps to reduce the burden of threat hunting by managing operating infrastructure, providing security teams with email alert notifications and widgets in a dashboard.

THIS is an innovative, collaborative NHS organisation providing digital and IT services to health and care providers across the UK in primary, secondary and third sectors. It is hosted by the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT).

Cyber security is one of its specialisms.

Its Cyber Security Team helps to protect approximately 15,000 devices used by 22,000 people working within CHFT and a spectrum of clients ranging from prison healthcare service providers to GPs’ surgeries.

THIS is the only NHS informatics service to hold three ISO standards relating to cyber security and data protection: ISO 27001 Information Security Management, 9001 Cyber Management and 20000-1 Information Technology Service Management.
