Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust becomes first trust to sign up to System C’s Ambient AI Consultations

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust has become the first NHS organisation to sign a contract with System C to implement its CareFlow Ambient AI Outpatient Consultations module, with go-live planned for Summer 2026.

The implementation will mark a major milestone in the transformation of outpatient care delivery.

The Trust will be part of a cohort of customers pioneering the use of intelligent ambient listening technology within its outpatient services.

The module will be fully embedded within the CareFlow electronic patient record (EPR), capturing and transcribing conversations between clinicians and patients.

The functionality then automatically generates clinic letters and completes outcome forms that drive billing and follow-up actions.

This deep integration with CareFlow EPR ensures that documentation, coding and administrative processes are completed accurately and efficiently.

Duncan Dewhurst, chief digital and transformation officer at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “Signing this contract for System C’s Ambient AI solution represents a significant step forward for our outpatient services.

“We expect this technology to reduce administrative pressure on our clinicians, enabling clearer and faster communication with patients after their appointments.

“This solution will help us deliver safer, more efficient care while giving our teams more time to focus on what matters most – our patients.”

System C’s Ambient AI solution is the most advanced AVT (Ambient Voice Technology) offering currently available within an EPR.

Its deep integration enables real-time clinical coding, actioning within the EPR such as order communications and pathway initiation, and context enrichment by drawing on relevant patient information like medical history and recent test results.

Expected benefits at Buckinghamshire include reduced clinician time and cognitive load, faster clinic letter turnaround, reduced administrative burden, improved coding accuracy and stronger protection against revenue loss from missed or delayed outcoming.

Guy Lucchi, managing director of Healthcare at System C, said: “Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is leading the way in demonstrating what ambient AI can deliver when it is deeply embedded into the EPR.

“This isn’t just about transcription – it’s about transforming the entire outpatient workflow.

“By removing administrative burden, improving documentation quality, and supporting clinicians in real time, we’re helping the NHS unlock capacity and improve patient experience.

“We’re incredibly proud to be working with Buckinghamshire as they become our first Trust to deploy this technology at scale.”

Looking ahead, System C is set to unveil an exciting new wave of AI innovation across its healthcare solutions, designed to deliver significant productivity savings for NHS organisations.

Key announcements will be shared at UserCon, System C’s annual customer conference, including major developments in maternity AI, built in close consultation with existing customers and designed to ensure the woman’s voice is heard throughout her care. System C will also be revealing its ambitious 2030 Vision at UserCon, setting out a bold roadmap for the future of health and social care technology.
